User interface design for the ‘hospital information system’

26 May 2008 No Comment

The last few days I was very busy ‘designing’ user interfaces for our Hospital Information System. The system will be used by health clinics, not really computer experts. A nice challenge to create a usable system that does not stand in the way of it’s users. After all, less work means more fun!

Interface design

The designs are very simple and mainly meant to visualize the ‘flow’ of the pages. For example:

This screenshot shows a Medical Pathway to which patients can be subscribed. There are some Sparklines to show the average waiting time and the number of currently active participants. I think they are a nice and non-obtrusive way of showing information.

I create the images with OmniGraffle. Michael Angeles of urlgreyhot.com created a nice OmniGraffle stencil to draw wireframes of websites. Thanks Michael!
